How Churches Are

You Know How Churches Are.
Full of hypocrites.
All they want is to fill their collection plates and parade around in fine clothes, telling each other how holy they are, spreading gossip about people and looking down on poorer members who are struggling with problems like divorce, drugs, and trouble with family members.
Right?
Well, I'm a 70-year-old man with a history of screw-ups, disasters, and problems I brought on myself by rejecting God's principles for success and happiness, and who finally admitted that his pride and stubborn attempts to do things I thought would make me happy, and ultimately recognized that Jesus really had been softly and tenderly knocking on the door of my life.
So Western Washington's April snowstorm came in last night and knocked over trees and big branches on my property, including a huge branch on the roof of my house.
I'm too old and not skilled enough to handle that kind of devastation.
I was really worried and I didn't have any idea how to even start putting things right.
Then I got a call from Pastor Grabhorn who told me not to worry, some of 'the boys' would come out and help me.
I was somewhat embarrassed and not sure how to respond.
Then Pastor Richard Brumley Knight called and said Corey Rehmer would be coming out with his chainsaw to clean things up.
Sure enough, Corey showed up with his truck and tools, and his boy Levi, and went straight to work.
I puttered around helping stack small branches while they sawed up the trees and branches and even got the mess off the roof.
Those Christians are sure terrible people, huh?
Well, I thank God for the people at Generations Church.
They put their actions where their words are, and work out their faith by stretching out their hands to help people where their needs are.
I thank God for all of them.
