Drawing from the story of David, Absalom, Tamar, and Amnon in 2 Samuel 13-14, this sermon examines how unaddressed sin and prolonged silence within families and relationships produce devastating consequences. David's failure to speak or act after his daughter Tamar was assaulted set off a chain of events — murder, exile, rebellion, and a fractured kingdom — that cost him everything. The sermon argues that silence, when it stems from shame, fear, or unhealed wounds, is itself a decision with a mounting cost. The antidote is not willpower or self-improvement, but receiving the forgiveness and identity Christ offers, which then frees people to speak truth in love, interrupt generational cycles of sin, and be genuinely present with those they care for.
