Seek First the Kingdom

Reading: Matthew 6:25-34

Devotional: Jesus knows our tendency toward anxious striving. We juggle responsibilities, chase security, and exhaust ourselves building kingdoms that won't last. His invitation cuts through our frenzy: "Seek first the kingdom of God." This isn't about neglecting practical needs—it's about proper ordering. When God becomes our foundation rather than one priority among many, everything shifts. The things we frantically pursued begin arriving as gifts rather than achievements. This requires trust that feels countercultural, even reckless. But Jesus promises abundance beyond our scheming: "All these things will be added to you." Today, identify one area where anxiety drives your decisions. What would seeking God first look like there? Trust Him enough to try. When God is first, everything else falls into its proper place; when He's not, everything falls apart.

Reflection Question: What worry or burden are you carrying today that you need to surrender in order to seek God's kingdom first?
